Matthew 11:1-19
"We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge and you did not mourn..."
No matter what John or Jesus does, they will not believe
Matthew 12:22-45
Pharisees accused Jesus of driving out demons in Satan's name even though that argument is logically absurd. It's not that they don't understand but that they WILL NOT believe.
UNFORGIVEABLE SIN = UNBELIEF
Their hearts are prideful, evil. From those hearts, words of unbelief come.
This generation will be condemned compared w/ Ninevites (repented at sign of Jonah) and Queen of Sheba (accepted Solomon).
Matthew 13:1-19
- Jesus spoke in parables because He wanted those who were committed (disciplines asked what parables meant, not those who wanted a miracle worker / political revolutionary... they get bored and fall away)
- The condemned (by God's sovereignty)... "You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving. For this people's heart has become calloused..."
- Parable of the seeds... many will fall away, but true Christians have true commitment, are true disciplines.
